I have a soft spot for the 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, VA as each September they host a the Greater Washington Business Aviation Association’s annual Golf Classic of which I am the Chair. We have played this course for nine years and we get positive feedback form our players. I got the chance to play 1757 again last summer for another golf tournament, the Loudon County Special Olympics Area 14 on June 19th. It was a fun day in support of a great group.
1757 Golf Club Overview
1757 Golf Club is located conveniently to Dulles International Airport. I bring this up as a plus for any aircraft spotting fans. The back of the course is on the approach end of the airport. The course is short with a par of 70 but it makes the most of the land. there are some doglegs that you have to hit big and precise. I like that the course clubhouse area is quite compact with driving range a few yards from the parking lot.
1757 Golf Club Condition
The day we played the course was in good condition. There are areas on fairways that are common landing areas that show some wear and tear but divot repair tubes on the golf carts take care of them. The greens were is good shape and rolled well just not well enough to drop some of our putts.
1757 Golf Club Favorite Hole
The 8th hole ranks as my favorite holes because of the approach shot. The hole is a short par 4 measuring 260 yards from the white tee but a stream cuts across the fairway at about 220. This leaves you with a pitch the green that is not very deep so get a good loft to make your ball stick. You don’t need to drive to the very edge of the fairway but just get to your most comfortable chip spot.
My Final Say
1757 Golf Club is a fun course and I look forward to playing it again for the GWBAA Golf Classic in 2020. The course is not a “shot makers” course but you can have fun trying to cut a corner or two.
